Love it!!
I love Obscura’s format. The host, Justin, does an excellent job covering these grim stories while maintaining absolute compassion for the victims involved. Keep up the good work, sir!
Kickass podcast.
Great podcast. Host manages to give complete details without being sleazy. Definitely recommend!
Better than sword and scale!
I recently found this podcast and I am so happy I did! This is Sword and Scale except MUCH BETTER. Give it a listen and you won’t be sorry.
Listener
This show is phenomenal. The creator really cares about the topic and the show is wild. I'm so happy he made this and love his Black Label premium episodes too!!
Great show
Love this podcast. Easy to listen to. The podcaster doesn't make himself a part of the material. I've heard a few other ones where the podcaster uses gimmicks or a really strong personality something akin to Robin Williams in good morning Vietnam to do the show. Obscura is all about the material. It's well written and unfolds like a good book. Have yet to hear a show I didn't like. If you are a fan of true crime, this is a great show to add to your listening pleasure.
Not just another true crime pod
Obscura is a great show by great people. Everyone I've told about it has become a huge fan and I'm proud that my recommendation holds up every time. Never stop making episodes!
Favorite (new to me) Pod!
The title of this review speaks volumes as, like many true crime fans, I sample many and stay subscribed to few. Obscura will stay in my library. Excellent narrative storytelling! I appreciate the objectivity and informative communication of facts and a few theories. Rather than pushing any opinions, the stories are often left to the listeners personal objectivity. Feedback is welcomed and recommended. Highly recommended to give this one a shot or add to your library! It’s definitely worthy of MY time!!
Entertaining But Needs Some Polish
I enjoy the subject matter and production value overall is really good however I can’t overlook blatant word mispronunciations. The episode on Cabrini Green was excruciating to listen to for this reason.
One of my new favorites
I’m a new listener, I hadn’t given it a chance because of the creepy looking cover art. I should have known you can’t judge by appearances. I’m not sure what I’d expected but this is a great podcast. The reason I gave it a try was Roseanne from killafornia dreaming and Erica from Southern fried both gave praise. The host sounds genuine, I like his respectful approach to victims and families. It’s obvious he puts a lot of work into production.
I love this podcast BUT...
The narrator frequently mispronounces words or uses the wrong word to the point of distraction for me. Examples of (often) mispronounced words: tyranny, renowned, Oregon. Example of wrong word: “compromised” when he meant “comprised”. I did not let this affect my rating (would have given a 4.5 if I could, but 4 seemed unfair), but posting this in hopes it helps the podcast to improve :) I find myself focusing on the errors versus the story.
Can’t wait.....
You are doing an awesome job. I can’t wait till I know the next episode comes.
Great work!
Definitely one of my new Favorites! Keep up the good work! Thank you kristi from the Canadian true crime for introducing this podcast on her show! I love the way you tell the stories and how much research is done! This definitely helps get through the night shift! Please don’t change anything or the way you do things. It’s seriously amazing!
Obscura
I am a new listener grateful to find this podcast to add to my library. This program is number one for true crime listeners. None better! The podcaster wastes no words in unnecessary or gratuitous violent commentary. Exactly as descriptive as necessary to thoroughly explain the crime, criminal and victim. Fascinating, due to a strong emphasis on research, this podcast is perfection! Be sure to give it a listen I am certain you will agree!
Solid show
Well researched. Good story telling. Give it a try
Thumbs up!
So enjoy this podcast - excellent storytelling

Really good
I've listened over and over. Can't stop.
Interesting continued

Must Listen
My new favorite true crime show. Awesome work.
A breath of fresh air in the true crime world!
I somehow stumbled across this podcast while trying to find something new from the mountains of popular regulars you see everywhere I was tired of. This is like a hidden treasure I’d rather not share but realize I have to so it can continue to grow! The host is fantastic at story telling, you can tell he cares about the stories, people, etc. The pace, story, details, background noise, everything is perfect! What makes it even better? These are interesting lesser known stories and topics!! I don’t know I’ve heard anything he’s done on other podcasts. I share everytime I see people asking for new podcast recommendations and hope it brings in new listeners 🖤
Awesome podcast
Just found this one was at the beginning listening to Oba Chandler story woke up this morning and they were all gone so bummed out where can I find the older podcast?????
Interesting commentary
I just discovered this podcast and really like it. I really appreciate the focus and respect he gives to the victims and his personal opinions are not too intrusive. I also learned new facts from the green river serial killer podcast. My only suggestion would be that the podcaster work on some of his grammar.I’ll definitely continue listening.
Stories not overly done
I stumbled upon this while trying to find something different, that drags you in. And it did not disappoint! I really enjoy the way the host tells the stories and doesn’t hold back. I especially enjoy the black label episodes. Excellent show, one of my favs!
